The path to becoming a business analyst
It all begins with 11th and 12th. At the same time, your stream is not as important initially as your undergraduate degree, but it makes some difference initially as to how easy it will be and how well-versed you will be with your subjects. With that in mind, commerce is usually the best combination to go with. It introduces you to the finance subjects and gives you the platform to understand technical terms, concepts, and applications. Besides this, you can also do courses to learn various software required across the industry like Excel, Tableau, etc.
The next step is selecting an Undergrad/Bachelor’s degree. Bachelor’s is the gateway for entry-level careers in analytical professions. A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, computer science, data science, statistics, information management, or a related field will help you arm with the correct institutional knowledge to make business analysis a career for you.
You could also pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree; numerous institutions offer specialities in business analytics. Obtaining a master’s degree in business analytics or business administration could help you enhance your abilities and knowledge while also providing you with a competitive advantage in the job hunt arena.

My journey in this field
It all started back in 12th when I was filling out forms for various entrances, interviews and exams. I stumbled upon business analytics as a career option; still unsure, I filled up forms for the colleges offering Business analytics as the major or specialization within the degree. Knowing little, I started researching, and this career resonated with me. I mean, to put it simply, my work life would be computers, excellent software and next-gen technology.
Keeping all of this in mind, I cleared the entrance for Symbiosis and am currently majoring in Business Analytics myself.
