The Parisian grasslands sparkled in soleil, the gay and bright sun, as they did in Lune, the sombre and graceful moon. It was beauty incomparable – both aspects of the day vying with each other to be most beautiful.
Soleil and Lune were sisters, though they were as different from each other as day and night. Everyone seemed to love slender Soleil, with her burnished golden hair as ripe as hay, and ever smiling lips as red as rosebuds.
Lune was beautiful in her very own graceful way. With silvery-blonde hair and a slim and lovely body curving like a violin, she meandered through the meadows at night, with the air of a queen surveying her rich, vibrant land. They both despised each other with a red-hot hatred.
Lune envied Soleil for everyone seemed to love her. But poor Lune would not make herself seen. Soleil stole jealous glances at her sister’s elegant figure, knowing very well she was not quite as lovely as that.
Soleil:
“Lune, sister, why vye with me?
My ever shining light encompasses the sea
I grace the meadows, the hills and the plains,
Showers of beauty, upon me they rain…”
Lune:
“Soleil, sister, what you say is wrong,
In my silence the deer come running along,
My pale, healing buttery glow,
Attracted many not long ago…”
Soleil:
“Beauty mine, beauty forever,
You will not experience ever.
Bright, graceful all along,
For me the birds burst into song…”
Lune:
“O, Mine is slender figure,
Youthful vigour,
Elegant beauty,
All along…”
Soleil: But when together, We’re stronger than ever
Lune: In our hearts united, at last friendship is sighted..”
Soleil and Lune forgave each other and lived together in harmony….
