Impeachment is when a member of authority (example president) is removed from their position by others of the government. But it is not so easy. If only one person agrees to the impeachment it does not happen. There is a process and most of the authorized people need to agree.
Is Donald Trump being Impeached? And Why?
Before I tell you that – a little background. There are two political parties in America (not like India where there are many). There is the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Trump is a Republican and he is wanting to become President again (elections are to be held in November next year – 2020). If Trump wins, he will become the President once more.
But, Mr Trump did something that was wrong and now the Democrats are asking for impeachment. The first member of governance to start his impeachment was the speaker of the house of representatives, Nancy Pelosi.
Let me tell you an incident that happened.
In the re-election, Joe Biden is a one of the candidates (and competition for Mr. Trump). To make him unpopular, Donald Trump apparently did something. The thing is that the United States gives aid (that is money) to a country called Ukraine. Now, what happened was that Joe Biden’s son does business in Ukraine. So, Mr Trump made a phone call to the President of Ukraine and said that he would only give the aid money if the President would tell Mr. Trump of any wrong act that Joe’s son did. Donald Trump would then give that information to the public, so Joe would not win the election. Complicated, I know, but that is what he did. This is being seen as a very wrong act and has led to talks about impeachment – Mr. Trump has used his position as a President to pressurize another leader of another country for his own personal interest.
