On September 21st Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi addressed a big, big audience in the United States. There were 50,000 Indians who came to hear him speak. This is being seeing as a really big deal for India. The reason is this is the first time a US president and Indian Prime Minister will be addressing a joint rally. Also, This was the first time that an American president addressed thousands of Indian-Americans at one place in the US.
Howdy, is short for ‘How do you do?’. It is a friendly greeting commonly used in south-western United States. The event was held at Houston in the southern state of Texas. It was organized by Texas India Forum (TIF) with a lot of help from the Indian embassy in Washington – India’s ambassador to the United States is Mr.Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who took a lot of personal interest in making this event happen.
There are about 4 million Indians in America and they are seen as an very important vote bank in the country – which is why it was great for Mr. Trump to be there and address such a large crowd – he is looking to come back for a second term as president and would need all the support he can get (quick fact: A person can only run for President twice – one term is four years)
