Air Pollution in Delhi has been terrible in the past few weeks. The Delhi government had decided to come out with a scheme to reduce the pollution, called the odd and even rule
What does that mean?
It means that odd number cars could go on odd dates like 1, 3, 5 and 7 of November. Even number cars could go on even dates like 2, 4, 6 and 8 of November. It was started on the 4 of November and may be extended by a month.
This rule was valid from 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Saturday. People who broke this rule ere fined. First the fine started as Rupees 2000 but then increased by another 2000 to Rs.4000. More than 4390 people were fined for not following this rule.
This rule is only exempt for two wheelers ,women driving alone or together, medical vehicles ,VVIPs and enforcement and defence vehicles.
This scheme was started by Mr Arvind Kejriwal the Chief Minister of Delhi. Delhi‘s pollution has decreased by 25% because of this scheme.
