The ABC Murders is one of the best mystery fiction books by Agatha Christie. Here’s a little about it.

It features a retired private detective, Hercule Poirot and his friend Captain Hastings. The story is based in England. It all starts with Poirot getting an anonymous letter from someone who calls himself ABC. He shows it to Captain Hastings and as expected he says confidently that he should not care, that it is the work of a madman. But Poirot has a bad feeling about it. The letter tells Poirot that a murder will happen on the 21st of the month, in Andover. Read the book to know what happens next!

The book is written in an old-style way, and it is really descriptive, which leads you to actually feel like you’re watching the story unfold like a movie. The book is written as if it is narrated by Hastings. Each and every main character introduced in the story is unique in its own way. Hercule Poirot himself is a very interesting character. He can be serious, funny, and deceptive all at the same time. His unique mystery-solving methods are great to read about and amusing to think about. I really liked one aspect of the book, which is common in most Hercule Poirot books written by Agatha Christie. It’s that the readers, nor the characters in the story know who the final killer is until Poirot finds out at the end.

The book also makes the story really interesting and thrilling while not being scary or fierce. There are also a few plot points, which means that there is a detail mentioned earlier that makes sense in the future, as the reader continues reading; which makes the story very interesting. This book is also very amusing to read as Poirot, who is French, keeps ridiculing the way that Hastings thinks, in a non-offensive way, saying, ‘oh you English people’. In this book, the suspense keeps on building, almost until the end, which makes you keep reading.

I strongly recommend The A.B.C Murders to anyone interested in reading it.
