Have you heard about an NGO ( non-governmental organization ) called Greenpeace? It’s the same NGO that makes sure that our nature is not getting damaged. Read along to find out what else this NGO does.

Greenpeace was founded in 1971 by Irving Stowe and Dorothy Stowe, two Canadian and US environmental activists. Their goal is to focus on problems present worldwide such as climate change, deforestation, overfishing, commercial whaling, genetic engineering and anti-nuclear issues. Greenpeace uses direct action, researching, lobbying and ecotage. This NGO wants peace and focuses on environmentalism. It takes fines and gives sentences for destroying important stuff i.e. when the Nazca lines were damaged they took serious action. Greenpeace is around 51 years old. It was earlier called Don’t Make a Wave Committee. Its headquarters are in Amsterdam, the Netherlands with 2,400 staff and 15,000 volunteers.

There are many green peace offices around the world ever in Bangalore, India.
