“2020 is a cursed year”, “Nothing is going the way it has to” – These thoughts and comments are like cavities. Whenever you stop brushing your teeth or you stop taking care of them, the cavities take over, and it is not easy to get over them.

During this Coronavirus pandemic, nothing is going the way it should. Not only is it Covid 19, Bollywood lost three of its shining stars. And there’s more – the countries of Nepal, China, Pakistan and India are not having good times together. All these negative news are like cavities for our mental health. We have to brush them up, or no good is happening. This means that all of us need some good news to bring a smile on our attractive, stunning and adorable faces.

Well here is some positive, wholesome, non-negative, legitimate news.

Firstly, The Indian prime minister shared important information about the Asiatic lions in the Gir forest, Gujrat, India. He revealed that the population of the majestic Asiatic lions has increased by 29 percent. Which puts the population of the Gir lions from 523 to about 674 according to the forest department. The Prime Minister credited community participation along with an emphasis on technology, wildlife, health care, and proper management of the habitat along with steps taken to minimise human to lion conflict as a reason for an increase in the population.

Secondly, everyone knows that the small and independent businesses have been one of the hardest-hit groups during the lockdown. In south London, independent traders are been given a lifeline through online raffles, organised by two community groups. The way this works is that local businesses offer their goods and services in terms of prizes in the raffle and the ticket sales cover the costs of these prizes. The low-price points of the raffle ticket, which is as low as one pound (94 rupees) allow the residence to support businesses to whatever extent they prefer. And by doing this they have managed to raise thousands of pounds for local shops saloons and pubs.

Thirdly, the government of India has given a solar sector in India a huge boost. This announcement of funding will enable two million farmers to invest in irrigation pumps powered by solar photovoltaic raise. Since this will be connected to a grid, it will also allow farmers to sell clean electricity when not in use, thereby providing additional revenue. Also, these pumps will be replacing diesel-powered versions which we all know are a great harm to the environment. This provides farmers an extra source of income along with a reliable water supply, keeping in control the greenhouse gas emissions.

Last but not the least, America seems to be taking tangible actions when it comes to the “Black Lives Matter” movement.  The Luis Wil metro council has voted unanimously ban no-knock warrants. The legislation was titled “Breonna’s Law” in honour of a women who died due to a raid in her home this year. This legislation requires the police to wear body cameras while serving a warrant and to switch on these cameras five minutes before doing the act. It is absolutely great to see police reforms being passed so quickly and it will surely help make the police more accountable for their actions.

Hats off to all the governments for carrying out this well-maintained lockdown. And hats off to all the responsible citizens of the world for following the rules, it is all done to keep you safe. Do not forget to brush your mental health with some positivity. Well, I am going to go wash my hands now, so should all of you!

Stay home, stay safe, and keep brushing!!
