Time has always existed. We humans have found different ways to measure it over many centuries. In ancient Egypt ,around 1500 B.C., time was measured for the first time by sundials which could tell so by the apparent position of the sun. A sundial consists of 2 parts: a flat plate (which is the dial) and a gnomon that casts a shadow on the dial. The shadow of the gnomon points at different hour lines as the sun moves across the sky.
Back in 1505, the first modern-day watch was invented by Peter Henlien, a locksmith from Nuremberg . This mechanical watch, called the Pomander watch, had only one hand for the hour and was made of copper: gold plated on the outside and silver-plated inside. The idea of making watches already existed, but he decided to turn it into a robotic invention with the feature of wearing and personalizing it.
The world has changed so much, because if we did not have the concept of time, we would not know what time, day or year it is now. There are three types of time: past, present , and future. In the past, watches could only do so much, but now watches can be digital or analog ,and can count your steps and even your heart rate!! Time can be measured in various lengths: it can be as little as a nanosecond or as long as a century.
