BTS is a really popular boy band, also known as the Bangton boys. It is a seven-member, South Korean band which was formed in 2010, and debuted under a company called Big Hit Entertainment. The group is composed of RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Gungkook. Originally a hip-hop group, they co-write and co-produce most of their own lyrics. Their lyrics are often focused on personal and social commentary, themes of mental health, troubles of school-age youth, loss, and journey toward loving oneself. Their work features references to literature and psychological concepts with an alternative universe storyline.

Songs

The group released several albums and went on to become a big hit in the music world. They debuted in 2013 with the single album, ‘2 Cool 4 Skool’. They released their first Korean language studio album ‘dark and wild’ and the Japanese language studio album ‘wake up’. The group’s second  Korean studio album, ‘Wings’ was their first album to sell one million copies in South Korea. They became the first Korean group to receive certification from the recording Industry Association of America for their single, ‘Mic Drop’. They also became the fastest group since Beatles to earn four US no. 1 albums in less than 2 years. ‘Love Yourself: answer’ was the first Korean album certified platinum by RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). In 2020, BIS became the first all-South Korean act to reach no.1 on the Billboard global 200 and US Billboard Hot 100 with their single ‘Dynamite’ and remix of ‘Savage Love’ (Laxed Siren Beat). With the release of ‘Life Goes on’, BTS became the first group in chart history to have 2 no. 1 hot 100 debuts.

BTS received many awards and honours, including 32 Mnet Asian Awards, 29 melon music awards, 14 Seoul Music Awards, 13 Gaon chart awards, 20 golden disk awards, 5 billboard music awards, and 6 American music awards.

They have also received a Grammy Award nomination, making them the K-pop group to ever to get nominated. They have also been named Time magazine’s Entertainer of the Year.

BTS has sold over 20.3 million albums, surpassing Shin Seung Hun’s record of 17 million albums. BTS holds 4 multi-million albums and is the first Korean group to receive an RIAA certification – The U.S – based Recording Industry Association of America awards certification is based on the number of albums and singles sold.

They have one platinum album, 2 multi-platinum singles, and one multi-platinum album. In October 2020, BTS topped the billboard artist 100 for the 11^th non-consecutive week extending their record for most weeks spent at no 1 on the chart among all duos and groups.
