Mental health is an important aspect of our well being that often gets overlooked. Especially in India, knowledge about mental health or the lack thereof is evident.
It is important for everyone to understand that mental health is equally as important as our physical health and that these two are symbiotic in nature. If a person is physically weak, or ill, or confined amidst four walls in the case of these days, it takes a toll on their mental state. It can put them in a depressive, lonely, or anxious state. At the same time, if a person is suffering mentally, it can cause their bodies to stop functioning as they do normally.
These two important aspects of our well being are also the cycle of our well being, one is dependent on another. This is why, often, solutions to physical problems can be mental and solutions to mental illnesses can often be linked to physical activity.
We, as responsible citizens of the world, are practicing self isolation to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This physical separation from the outside world and for some people, from their friends and family, can take a major toll on people’s state of mind.
This is why educated professionals recommend avoiding to watch the news all day long, trying to distract your mind by engaging in other tasks and having some physical movement inside your own home.
Stay healthy and take care!
