The story “A bit of good luck” is a very interesting and inspiring story. It is written by Enid Blyton. It is taken from her collection of books called ‘Summer Stories”. This story is about Mary and her grandma, who try to find good luck.

One day grandma loses her golden watch which was gifted by grandpa, 40 years before. She calls Mary, her granddaughter and asks if she saw her gold watch. Mary searches everywhere for it, but she doesn’t find it.

Mary likes her grandma a lot, so she decides to find her golden watch and find some good luck to her. She thinks that finding four-leaved clover can bring some good luck to her grandma. But, Mary finds only one leaf of clover in grandma’s garden and she finds a golden watch shining in between. She then gives the watch to her grandma along with the four-leaved clover. She also requests her grandma to give half of the luck to her.

You will not believe, grandma starts getting good luck in the form of chocolates, ice-cream and movie tickets, Mary enjoys everything grandma gets in half.

What I learnt from this story

Through the story, I realized that sometimes we get both good luck and bad luck in life. We should not get worried about bad luck. The author makes the story more interesting by adding mystery and by making Mary more sensible and responsible.

I recommend this story for kids between the age of 6 to 10.
