Most people include honey in their diets. Why is this?
Does honey have some special properties which are beneficial for our body? Or do people just consume it because of its taste?
Let’s find some of its properties and decide.
Better than sugar
Added sugar has no nutritional benefits for us. In fact what it provides is excess calories, which leads to an increase in body weight and can cause high blood pressure and diabetes.
Because of this negative impact of added sugar, honey is becoming popular.
Good for a cough
Instead of using medicines all the time, honey can be used to cure cold and cough. It not only kills the bacteria, which causes cough or cold, but even softens the throat. However, honey should not be given to the children under the age of one year. It can cause food poisoning in young children.
Improves sleep and increases immunity
When there is a way to improve sleep, then why should we lie awake all night? Or why take sleeping pills to sleep better?
Simply use honey in hot milk – it has a calming effect and helps you fall asleep quickly. There’s a science behind it. Honey releases serotonin and the body changes that into melatonin, which improves the length and quality of sleep.
Also, we can use honey with lemon juice in warm water to boost our immunity. We should drink this tonic before breakfast.
Treats wound and burns
Honey even has antiseptic properties. It does not allow the growth of bacteria and also stops infection in external wounds. When it is applied to wounds, it absorbs water. It can be called the natural first aid cure.
Best for skin and weight loss
During the winter months, honey can be used to soften up the knees, elbows, and even lips. It works as an amazing moisturizer.
Consuming honey before going to bed helps in losing weight as it controls appetite. It also helps in increasing the metabolism if consumed with lemon into warm water in the morning.
Great for your hair
Honey can also be used in cleansing the scalp. Moreover, it also helps in removing dandruff and making your hair silky and smooth.
This is like a magic potion and has numerous health benefits. Start using it today to stay healthy.
