As we all know, COVID 19 has impacted all spheres of human life. The pandemic has particularly affected the world’s poor, who have found it more difficult to live and get access to the basics, in terms of livelihood and survival.

In India, COVID brought about a big crisis among migrant workers. Migrant workers are those who leave their homes and move to bigger cities in search of employment and better lives. They tend to live and work in crowded conditions that do not permit social distancing, putting them at an increased risk of contracting the disease.

Moreover, migrant workers face challenges in accessing healthcare even in normal circumstances. Due to the lack of health insurance and the lack of access to healthcare, lakhs of migrant workers in India were left stranded and on the road having lost jobs and being left without food, income, and accommodation. Many attempted to travel back home on foot.

To sum up I would like to say that COVID 19 has devastated the poor, especially and also impacted the Indian economy, affecting the lives of millions of people.

We must do what we can to help those in need, especially migrant workers.
