It is not often that you see a batsmen going on to hit hundreds in a twenty over a cricket match. Well now with two of the three venues in the IPL which is being held in the United Arab Emirates are batsmen dream ground, scoring centuries is relatively easier.
Shikhar Dhawan scored two hundred in two matches to become the first player in the IPL to hit back to back centuries. With 471 runs in 12 games, the two tons took him to second on the list for the orange cap.
He joined an exclusive group of batsmen with over 5000 IPL runs which includes Virat Kohli (5,759) and Suresh Raina (5,368) and Rohit Sharma (5158).
In his first six matches of IPL 2020, Dhawan could manage only 132 runs at a strike rate of 120. But he has been in terrific form in the last four games. Dhawan has scores of 69 not out, 57 and 101 not out in his last three innings and today’s knock of 106 was the best of the lot.
Living up to his name Gutsy Gabbar he has now once again become one of the match winners for his team. Also one of the most underrated players, he and his other brother Anrich Nortje are doing well for their team.
Their side the Delhi capitals are almost in the playoffs but losing the last two games for them might leave Gabbar and Delhi heartbroken.
