Who is Kate Bush ?

Catherine Bush, popularly known as Kate Bush is an English singer, songwriter, and dancer. She sang a song named “ Running up the Hill ” in 1985 which reached the number three spot at the time.

After 37 years it has become the number 1 song on all platforms worldwide. Australia, the USA, England, and many other countries reported it as the number 1 song.

Why the sudden popularity?

Running up the hill has been used in the very popular Netflix show “Stranger Things”. It can be heard extensively in the sci-fi drama. Stranger Things, being one of the most-watched series on Netflix, is the reason for the sudden spike in popularity of the song after 37 years of being launched.

Volume 1 of season 4 is the biggest English language TV series debut on Netflix of all time, the series has a great influence on the viewers. The presence of a song in a few scenes has resulted in an 8000% rise in worldwide streams.

The show is based in the ’80s and to pick a song written in that decade was an obvious choice. One of the characters in the show-Max relies on the song which eventually helps her.

Millennials and Gen Z are both hooked to the song that has gained immense popularity. Who would have thought that 37 years later a long-forgotten tune would resurrect with such fervour!
