A protest is basically a group of people who are against a certain thing and are showing that to the public. That is what is happening in Iraq. People are protesting against corruption and unemployment. Corruption is a dishonest act performed by someone with power for their own gain. The protest is serious, 93 people have been killed and nearly 4,000 wounded.

One of Iraq’s top clerics (a cleric is a priest or a religious leader), asked the government to step down and resign their position as their people were unhappy with their acts. The Prime Minister, Adel Abdel Mahdi, has asked the people to remain calm. The government has taken safety measures, including a curfew (a regulation requiring people to remain indoors between specified hours) to avoid any more injuries or deaths. People are now worried about Iraq’s future.
