What is yoga?

Yoga is an old physical and spiritual discipline from ancient India. It is one of the 6 Astika schools of old Hindu traditions. There are 8 kinds of yoga’s. Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Kudalini, Jivamukti and Yin. All of them have different techniques.

What are yoga’s benefits for kids?

Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. They gain flexibility, strength, coordination and body awareness. As their concentration increases, their body allows them to focus more on work. When they learn techniques for relaxation they are able to do other poses with ease. It also helps them by increasing their balance and making them stronger. Some stretching poses make the young muscles stronger.

Which poses are the best for kids?

  • Bridge pose(  Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)
  • Tree pose (Vrksasna)
  • Cobra pose (Bhujangasana)
  • Cat pose (Marjayasana)
  • Bow pose (Dhanurasana)
  • Frog pose (Mandukasana)

These poses names help kids visualise the pose better.

I think that yoga has many benefits for kids and would help them in the future. I enjoy it and am sure you would too ?
